Meet Sky, Daniella & the team that make the Mustang Adoption Academy & Mustangs of Service program possible.
The Mustang Adoption Academy is located in Haubstadt, IN - a small town at the southern point of Indiana. Although we are small we are doing big things with Mustangs, mustang owners & Veterans using Brain-Based Horsemanship.

Sky has over 20 years of experience training horses and with this hands-on knowledge, as well as inspiration from Dr. Stephen Peters' equine neuroscience research, has developed a set of brain-based horsemanship principles. This approach fueled his formation of the Mustang Adoption Academy, saving Mustangs and helping Veterans through the MAA’s free Mustangs of Service (MOS) mental health program.
Sky is a certified Life Coach, integrates his training from Equusoma®, is Arenas for Change (ARCH) trained and has completed vast military & trauma-informed trainings. He is also a registered Branded Forever Partnership Trainer.

Daniella DeSilva

​Daniella has over 30 years of experience working with horses and more than 20 years involved in therapeutic riding programs.
Daniella holds a Master’s degree in Counseling, is a certified Life Coach, is level 2 NL-P, EP certified through Natural Lifemanship, has taken courses through the Polyvagal Equine Institute and has completed vast military & trauma-informed trainings - blending her lifelong horsemanship with trauma-informed, relationship-based healing.

Nick Miller
Veteran Advisor & Board Member

Nick brings invaluable perspective and guidance to the program. His leadership and dedication have been instrumental in shaping the vision and foundation of the Mustangs of Service veterans program.

Plus, he can build or fix anything! Helping to stretch the dollars, so that more funds go directly to helping our veterans & mustangs.

Sharon Burks-Maier

Sharon keeps everything on track behind the scenes, ensuring the program runs smoothly and continues to grow & flourish. Her dedication and support are absolutely essential to both our veterans & our mustangs.

Dr. John Feutz
Veterinarian & Board Member

With his many years of exemplary veterinarian care in our community & beyond, Dr. Feutz' advice & oversight on the physical welfare of our animals is invaluable.

Not to mention, he supplies great hay, keeping our horse's healthy & happy all year round in a multitude of ways.

Elaine Snyder
Community Engagement Coordinator​

This powerhouse of a woman brings partnerships together between the MOS veterans program and our local community. From donations to community outreach, Elaine is a cornerstone of the nonprofit.
Not to mention, she helps to muck & feed & love on the horses 3 days a week! We & the horses are so grateful to have her on our team!
